Lions Clubs International Peace Poster Contest

Each year, Lions clubs around the world proudly sponsor the Lions International Peace Poster Contest in local schools and youth groups. This Contest encourages young people worldwide to artistically express their visions of peace.

The theme of the 2010-11 Peace Poster Contest is "Children Know Peace." Students, ages 11, 12 or 13 on November 15, are eligible to participate.

Promoting the Arts

Each year's contest consists of an original theme incorporating peace. Participants use a variety of mediums, including charcoal, crayon, pencil and paint, to express the theme. The works created are unique and express the young artists' life experiences and culture.

Spreading Peace and International Understanding

Twenty-four international finalists are selected each year, representing the work of more than 350,000 young participants worldwide. Posters are shared globally via the Internet, the media and exhibits around the world.

These local winners have taken the first step to becoming an internationally recognized artist by winning the local competition at their middle school sponsored by the Muskego Lions Club.

These posters are among more than 350,000 entries that will be submitted worldwide in the annual Lions International Peace Poster Contest. Lions Clubs International sponsors the program to emphasize the importance of world peace to young people everywhere.

Judging occurred at each middle school in October. All student artwork was judged anonymously by its originality, artistic merit an portrayal of this year's theme "Children Know Peace".

Local winning posters advanced to the district level, and will be judged by another panel of judges. After being judged at the district level, winning posters advance to the multiple district, and hopefully to the international levels of competition.

One international grand prize winner and 23 merit award winners will be selected. The grand prize includes a cash award of $2,500, plus a trip for the winner and two family members to new York City, New York for the awards ceremony at Lions Day with the United Nations. The 23 merit award winners will each receive a certificate and a cash award of $500.

"our club is cheering for ___________ as her poster advances in the competition, and we hope that her vision of peace will ultimately be shared with others around the world." Lion Stache commented.

These talented young artists were celebrated for their artistic merits by the Muskego Lions Club at the club's November 14th general meeting.

In addition, the Muskego Public Library will be hosting an art exhibit displaying the judged student artwork from both middle schools from ___________________________. The Muskego Lions Club congratulates all of the 2011 Peace Poster Contest participants!
